Star of the North's Mission and Vision
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home companion
animals while educating the public. Our vision is a world which all
animals are loved and respected by everyone.
Our History
Star
of the North Humane Society/Animal Shelter started helping animals in
1978; we officially organized in 1980. For more than 31 years, we have
served Itasca County, as well as areas of bordering counties where
there are no available animal shelters or humane societies. Star of the
North is a no-kill organization; time limits are not placed on the
animal's. Our focus is to rescue animals that are homeless or lost,
abused
or neglected. We tend to their physical and emotional needs while in
our care, spay or neuter and vaccinate them, then find loving, forever
homes for them. Through the unwavering dedication of a small group of
volunteers and part-time caretakers, every year several hundred
companion animals are placed in homes or reunited with their families.
Due to a continuing pet overpopulation crisis, there are always many
wonderful dogs, cats, puppies and kittens waiting for loving, forever
homes.
Star of the North Humane Society is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization that exists on the generosity of donors and supporters. All information regarding operations of SNHS can be obtained by submitting your request to adoptions@starnorth.org
